Matchweek 18 delivered big results and tighter races across Swengland.
ST IVES SEAGULLS kept their lead at the top with a 71-63 win away at WILLS WINGDINGS, staying six points clear as the run-in starts to take shape. COYS FC moved up to third after beating VICTORIOUS SECRET 70-65, while champions TASTUR BONDAI BARCA dropped to fourth following a 71-60 defeat at FOREVER QPR. There was also a rare double draw on the fixture list, with FOSSIL PARK EAST and SHADWELL TOWN finishing 61-61 and JDEACON7 and MOATY'S MANIACS ending 63-63.
JURYSOUT stayed top in Division 1 but their lead was trimmed after they went down 74-53 at BY 'ECK, while GREMLINS held second and closed the gap with a 63-60 win over MISSING LINK and EZE DOES IT kept up the pressure in third by beating BADLY GOOD 81-75. The pack behind is tightening, with BADLY GOOD, MISSING LINK, CHACARITA and COMMITMENTS all on 30 points after CHACARITA edged ALPHA ATHLETIC 69-66 and TEAM GEORGIES BOYS beat COMMITMENTS 64-56, and there was also a surprise and a rare draw at the bottom as ATLETERNA saw off MAFIA FOUR LIONS 80-66 and IFK HARLTONHAM drew 55-55 with TEAM GOTLAND.
GLORY GLORY stayed top of Division 2 on 37 points despite a 69-45 loss at CORNISH REDS, and BECKENBAURFLY are now just a point back after edging BONGO FURY 47-45 to move onto 36. REAL ALE ROVERS remained third even after going down 71-64 at HENRY C FC, while the group behind tightened up as SPECKLED JIMS beat MAKRILLARNA 68-52 and HOOFBALL saw off RED EXILES 68-64, leaving several sides clustered between 30 and 31 points. At the bottom end, LALJILAND FC and KAMIKAZEES both added wins, beating GOTHATTERS FC 60-44 and WHALLEY RANGE FC 54-34 respectively.
WILLS WINGDINGS RL won the John Walsh Cup with a 113-81 victory over KUDUS TO YOU, wrapping up the first Swengland trophy of the season in convincing fashion. Stuart played his Bench Boost for the final, but the result was already heading his way, with WILLS WINGDINGS RL building a decisive lead and keeping KUDUS TO YOU at arm’s length throughout. KUDUS TO YOU, managed by Tom Iddon, had no chips left to throw at it and couldn’t match the pace on the night as the cup went to WILLS WINGDINGS RL.
MOTW
Manager of the Week goes to Stuart after WILLS WINGDINGS RL’s John Walsh Cup-winning performance, while Bertil takes Worst MOTW for WHALLEY RANGE FC after scoring 34, the lowest total across AllSwengland this week.
