"........City have just built a fantastic multi million pound new stand. The trouble is, it's facing the pitch....."
Comedian Bernard Manning

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of the above Mr Richardson's company as we finally achieved one of his bucket list ambitions. A visit to Clarence Park. Home of the mighty St Albans city FC. We had been trying all season to get there to lend them our support in their time of need. Finally, we made it, and with beers in hand, we cheered them on to a 1-1 draw with Hornchurch, a mid table team with nothing to play for. City trailed for a long time in the match., But I knew this season, they have made a habit of either conceding last minute goals in added on time or scoring them. Thankfully, on Saturday, it was the latter. And just to give you a taste of the game, here are some highlights, if you look very carefully across the pitch on the right hand side, you will see Mr Addison soon to be a Swengland manager, in a bright orange jacket, Mr Badly Good Darley, Mr Richardson and myself. For that you are going to need really good eyesight:
The draw still leaves Saints with it all to do if they are to escape relegation. With six games left, they are playing for home and two away, three of those games with a team with something to play for and three against mid-table teams. It was at sometime during the latter part of the game that Mr Richardson realised that he was on the course to win the Arnold Bolt trophy, which he did eventually do defeating Hoofball in the Final.
So, congratulations Andy, some silverware for your mantelpiece at home to go with the other silverware, which you won. I think a few years ago now, (neither of us could remember what it was!)
Interestingly, some days before our Clarence Park excursion, I was visited by last year's winner of the Arnold Bolt Trophy, and as we hadn't had a prizegiving yet, I seized the opportunity to have special guest Judy, who was, luckily on hand, present Viv Stephenson with his prize.

As you probably know by now, the date has been fixed for the SWENGLAND 30 years celebration in the summer, which will take place here at my place. Everybody who has ever been a manager is welcome and I know for sure there are some of our Swedish friends making the trip. The party will begin at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, appropriately, and let's hope for some good weather. Put this date in your diary: JUNE 14th
